AcademblyHow to use the app
This guide matches the labels and flows in the desktop web app. Academbly is intended for desktop and laptop browsers for focus sessions, tasks, reports, and settings; on phones, the layout is trimmed so you can check progress and start a timer on the go. Use this page for humans first — and the in-app ? keyboard panel when you are logged in.
Main areas (tabs)
After you sign in, you move between sections using the sidebar on large screens or the navigation on smaller screens. Each tab has a short subtitle in the app; the table below uses the same wording.
| Tab | In-app hint |
|---|---|
| Home | List & calendar |
| Focus | Stopwatch, Pomodoro & Analytics |
| Courses | Courses, subjects & topics |
| Groups | Study groups & focus sessions |
Keyboard shortcuts
Most shortcuts work when focus is not inside a text field, dropdown, or dialog — the same rule shown in the in-app shortcuts dialog. Dictate is the exception and works in the Add task field.
- Alt+1 through 4 — jump to the visible tabs in order (the exact tab order follows your sidebar; if Groups is hidden in Settings, the count shifts accordingly).
- Alt+[ / Alt+] — previous / next tab.
- ? — open the shortcuts list.
- Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z — undo the last task deletion when the app offers that undo toast.
- Ctrl+Shift+Space / Cmd+Shift+Space — toggle dictate while adding a task (Esc stops listening).
- Esc — closes the shortcuts dialog when it is open.
Streaks and focus level
On medium and larger screens, a compact strip can show your session streak and focus level progress. Streaks count days where you complete a Timer session and save it. You get three streak freezes each month that auto-cover a missed day; if a streak still breaks, you can restore it once within a day. The focus strip summarizes lifetime focused hours and your current level tier — hover the chips in the app for the exact titles. A sync status line reflects whether your latest edits have been saved to the server.
Today's focus goal
A banner can show Today's focus goal. Focused time comes from the wall-clock duration of Timer sessions you save for today. Set a daily target in Settings when you want a clear finish line — and celebrate when you hit it.
Timer tab
Use Timer for stopwatch-style sessions or structured Pomodoro blocks. When a session ends, save it so Analytics and streaks can count the time — optionally attach a course or subject.
Tasks, Analytics, Courses
Tasks holds a lightweight per-day list next to Focus. Analytics lives under Timer (switch Timer | Analytics) and summarizes totals and charts for the ranges you pick. Courses is where you manage courses, subjects, their items, and bulk assignment.
Groups & Settings
Groups can be hidden from the main nav in Settings — when it is visible, it covers study groups and focus sessions. Settings holds time zone, themes, billing (when enabled), and data export buttons.
Getting your data out
In Settings, use Export JSON for a full snapshot download and Export CSV (all-time reports) for aggregated hours by subject and category. Under Timer → Analytics, Export CSV uses whichever date range you have selected.
If cloud sync fails, the app may offer an Export JSON now control as a recovery path so you can save a local copy before retrying — that is for error recovery, not day-to-day export.
